On all RCD's, you will find a small test button. This should be pressed every six months. If the RCD "trips", and you can then reset it. All is working as it should. If you press it and it does nothing, or you cannot reset it, this indicates that the RCD has failed, and you should seek the help of a qualified registered electrician. Checking your RCD's regularly also helps to keep them from mechanically seizing.
